We left from Barcelona on Oceania Cruise Line's M/S Regatta, Saturday the 10th of April for our first Port of Call, after a day at sea, Marseilles, France.
Our complimentary bottle
of champagne and one crummy little flower. It shows a little bit
of our cabin, which was very nice, with a large balcony. A beautiful
little fishing village in Marseilles.
First picture is of a Museum
in Marseilles which had something to do with the water supply. We
didn't go inside. I took a lot of pictures on this trip, and we stopped
at so many places you're only going to see a few from each town or place.
In this case only two from Marseilles. The next day we were at Monte
Carlo, Monaco. In the morning we were off on a bus tour of Nice,
France and a little Village called Eze. Then in the afternoon we
visited Monte Carlo. They dropped us off at a street market in Nice
for some free time. Here is a display of dried fruit.
The beach front in Nice,
no sand just stones and the little town of Eze built on the side of a cliff.
A mask shop in Eze and another
street scene also in Eze.
A Smart Car, they're so
small you can park between two other cars heading in to the curb.
They're made by some watch company. I want one of these cars.
Grace Kelly, Princess Graces'
grave site in Monte Carlo. Shirley waiting for the bus also in Monte
Carlo. We had an ice cream cone here while waiting, it was one scoop
the size of a 50 cent piece and cost $3.25. We had another one in
Rome, a great huge ice cream cone and it cost $1.25 or one euro.
A nice little park just
up the hill from the famous Casino of Monte Carlo. The crane is working
on a building behind the Casino. I was expecting a bit more glitz
and glamor in the casino, compared to Las Vegas it was rather ho-hum.
Portofino Italy, a beautiful
little town although we saw very little of it do to a mix up in our tour.
We assumed that we would have some time in town after the tour, but we
only had time to get back to the ship before sailing. We should have
gone into town in the morning as we had plenty of time, but we were a little
lazy and a bit naive as well, so we missed it.
What we did see was a small
little village ( San Fruttuoso ) with a crummy little church, in disrepair,
and this beach again covered with stones. I can't think, for the
life of me, why they wasted our time taking us there. However the
next and last stop on the tour was worth the effort. It was a small
little fishing town called Camogli, very small, and I think the worth of
the entire village was poured into their church. Magnificent church,
as you can see from the photo.
